OUR STORY
Service, given structure.
Deakonia began inside a local church. One of our co-founder, Tomi, teaches Sunday School and produces creative work for a church. Week after week, he watched good people hold the church together with WhatsApp threads, shared spreadsheets and memory.
Rotas lived in one place, newcomer details in another, approvals in someone's inbox. When a volunteer stepped back, what they knew often left with them. Nobody was careless. The tools simply weren't made for the work of the church.
So we set out to build one place that holds it all, and to build it for every church, not just ours. The name comes from diakonia, the Greek word for service. That is what the software is for: to serve the people who serve.
WHERE WE ARE
Growing, one church at a time
The Potter's House Edinburgh is our first pilot church. Their departments shape what we build: how a rota really gets filled, how a newcomer gets followed up, how two counts of Sunday's offering get reconciled.
Now we're opening a pilot round for 50 churches. We'd rather grow slowly and get it right than grow fast and leave churches behind.
